We are proud to partner with branches of the military to best serve their rubber keypad and component needs. We understand how important quality, durable parts are when it comes to components for all military applications, both in the office and in the field. That’s why you can expect only the highest-quality, most rigorously tested products that have been put through precise design parameters and specifications.
We have built up a reputation over the years as a trusted military partner, ensuring custom silicone keypads are being made with precision in mind, whether you’re in the Navy or the Marines. One of our goals is to keep up with the technological advances that take place every single year in the military, not the least of which involves state-of-the-art weaponry.
But aside from weapons, the importance of revolutionary keypad design can’t be understated.
Why Must Silicone Keypads Be Durable?
First and foremost, they have to be able to operate under extreme temperatures, as well as harsh battlefield conditions in all climates. Accessories and machines must be made of the highest quality, most durable materials. If not, failure could occur, which can result in poor operational decisions at best and injury and death at worst.
What Do We Do?
With that in mind, we have crafted a silicone rubber component solution designed specifically for the military. Our teams work hard to meet and exceed precise design parameters, relying on innovations in military technology to improve the experience of the end user. This is why our products give you exceptional operability backed by assurances of ITAR-certified manufacturers.
Speaking of ITAR Compliance…
So what’s the big deal about the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)? ITAR puts forth a set of stringent guidelines that U.S. manufacturers, brokers and exporters of defense-related technologies must follow to the letter. The United States Munitions List (USML) is part of that compliance, and it’s a comprehensive list of the services, articles and related technology designated in military, defense, or space-related industries. It’s all overseen by the U.S. federal government.
USML components must meet ITAR specs before approval for export can be granted. This is where SiTECH comes in. As an ITAR-certified rubber molding manufacturer for military branches, our engineers make sure our custom silicone keypads remain compliant with ITAR. This gives our clients great peace of mind.
Design Elements and Shielding
Military operations rely heavily on lightweight components because they often have to be mobile and ready to move at a moment’s notice. Heavy communications devices, computer equipment, and surveillance tools cut down on mobility, reaction time and transport time. When you incorporate lightweight silicone molding, the result is more compact freight transport and air flight transport.
Because we utilize liquid silicone injection molding, this advanced process puts a high priority on precision and durability. Not only are they lighter than metal components, they feature raised buttons so keys can be distinguished even in low-light conditions. When sensitive information has to be transported over great distances, custom rubber keypads are integral for accessing high security areas.
Now, when it comes to shielding, we can help the military protect information and intelligence with rubber keypads made with silicone injection molding. That’s because such molding contains built-in electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. Why is this so important in the military? Well, it ensures safer and easier transmission of electronic and verbal communications.
Special coatings are also added to shield anything from communications devices to surveillance tools from suffering the effects of electronic interface. Poisonous gases, smoke or dust lead to inhospitable military environments, whereby robots must be used to ensure civilian safety search and rescue, for example.
