Si-Tech’s origin starts with key employees who worked for Lucas Industries. Lucas Industries was a manufacturer of components for the automotive industry and aerospace industry. In the 1980s, Lucas bought a panel company that owned silicone rubber equipment to produce silicone rubber components to go along with its 
panel business. Lucas’s panel division worked on jobs such as pioneering the first silicone rubber keypad for Motorola’s first flip phone and many others. In October of 1996, several people that worked in the panel business left Lucas to start Silicone Technology Corporation, also known as Si-Tech for short. The group had not only vast amounts of experience in panels, but also silicone rubber components.
Today, Si-Tech is a competitive U.S. domestic silicone rubber manufacturer located in Newport News, Virginia. While Si-Tech is a fairly new name, the technologies, patents and manufacturing capabilities have been in existence and operational from the early ’80s. The key people who developed first surface silicone rubber products started Si-Tech. Si-Tech and its staff have in excess of 75 years of experience in silicone rubber manufacturing and is recognized by GE Silicones as the key manufacturer of liquid injection molded (LIM) / LSR first surface keypads. Si Tech and GE Silicones have a strategic alliance to continue to develop LIM for keypad applications.
Custom keypads are just one of the many products manufactured by Si-Tech. We use a unique liquid injection molding process with Dow and GE Silicones through an automated high-pressure injection process. This combination of technology and quality offers you a competitive domestic supplier of custom keypads and other silicone rubber products. Si-Tech’s state of the art process assures that complex key shapes, housings and other desirable features are economically produced. Three-dimensional construction can be combined with proprietary screened graphics to provide unique, application specific keypads.
