Securing International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance can have a major impact on a business. Implemented over 30 years ago by the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), ITAR regulations are import and export control regulations that are enforced by the United States Department of State (DOS) to safeguard U.S. national security and further U.S. foreign policy objectives. These regulations control items on the Missile Technology Control Regime, United States Munitions List (USML), or anything intended for military or defense-related applications.
In order to remain complaint with ITAR standards, foreign nationals must not be permitted access to any product, data, or information. Yearly applications must be submitted to the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) of the DOS by all manufacturers, exporters, or brokers of defense articles that explain their role in these articles as well as a registration fee. These requirements go a long way toward ensuring defense technology and related technical information stays confidential and private. In the wrong hands, this could spell disaster.
Federal authorities have been actively pursuing breaches of ITAR over the past 20 years. Some manufacturers are discovering that even if they are ITAR compliant, they can still be in danger of federal penalties if their suppliers are not. Ensuring all sub-contractors are also ITAR compliant, is critical, despite the keypads intended application. The government is on the lookout for these offenses and will be swift to enforce the rules.

We have been working with the Military ever since the start of our company and our ITAR certification broadens our manufacturing capabilities, as well as our ability to navigate other government market segments.
As an American-owned company, we are proud to guarantee that our components are designed and manufactured at our plant in one of the most military-rich communities in the USA; Newport News, Virginia. If your company is ITAR compliant; using foreign parts and/or components that you aren’t sure are also compliant can put your whole operation in jeopardy.
