SiTECH’s customers’ molds are used in creating every product they order. Every shot in our injection machines applies around 35 ton directly to the mold; this can cause wear and tear over time and requires continuous maintenance to extend the life of our customers’ molds.
Basic Cleaning
Dirt and grime accumulates over time on the mold surface; with every use, a little bit more builds up. Removing the buildup takes a steady hand, a good eye, and plenty of patience. Each mold has a unique design and with that, personalized instructions for maintenance. Some molds are more delicate than others and require special cleaning tools; some come in multiple parts and need to be disassembled in order to clean out the fine gaps in between.
Service / Repair
Every one of our customers’ molds are treated with the utmost care; they are always covered with protective rubber mats when left unattended, only cotton and popsicle sticks are used when cleaning, and only appointed mold handlers may carry them. However, after years of use, minor damage to the molds becomes inevitable; dents and scratches begin to appear, affecting the final product. Despite many of the molds being designed with this in mind, the occasional repair is needed. Being left to only the most capable hands, any damage found is carefully repaired in house. Many of our customers molds, based on their design, may repeatedly receive the same kind of damage of time; these molds require constant care and are given individual instructions for regular repair. One such mold design are those with a polished surface; requiring the occasional polishing, they receive more maintenance than most other molds.
Storage
Our customers entrust us with care and storage of their molds in between orders. Once an order is complete, the mold is inspected and tagged; it then receives any needed maintenance before being put into storage. With the molds being stored closed, their faces are safe from any damage that could occur. Upon a new order request, the mold is taken from storage, given a quick inspection, and placed back into an injection machine for use.
